Public interviews of finalists for town manager scheduled for March 21

DRACUT – The Board of Selectmen is nearing the end of its search for a new town manager with the four finalists scheduled for public interviews on Saturday, March 21.

Interviews are scheduled for 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Chamber at Town Hall.  It is anticipated that each selectman will ask several questions to each candidate. The interviews are public and will be broadcast on Dracut Public Access Television.

The finalists were selected by the town manager screening committee are as follows: Groton Town Manager Mark Haddad, former Amesbury Mayor Kenneth Gray, Framingham Chief Operating Officer Thatcher Kezer III, and Southbridge Town Manager Ronald San Angelo.

The order in which the finalists will be interviewed has not yet been determined.

The finalists have come under public scrutiny for the baggage they may bring to the job from past positions, so much so that a number of town workers signed a petition asking the selectmen to add Interim Town Manager Ann Vandal to the list of finalists.

Vandal stepped into the manager’s shoes after former Town Manager James Duggan abruptly resigned last October in the midst of the state Attorney General’s probe of town bidding violations. Vandal filled the manager’s post before Duggan was hired.
