Wedding Bells And Alarm Bells Make For a Memorable Event At St. Francis Church!
Wedding Bells, Alarm Bells!! So what happens when the fire alarm goes off at church during the readings at a wedding? If you’re a good natured bride/groom (Mr. and Mrs. Dana Francis) and wedding party, you simply pose in front of the fire engine! And the real twist? Dana is a firefighter with Lawrence Fire Dept., bride/groom met in National Guard, and there were many firefighters in attendance!
Here’s Fr. Maher’s description of the events, these are also his photos:
“Alarm went off and told us to evacuate the building at the beginning of the second reading. Bride and groom were good about it. No firefighters in the photo because they were checking out the building. Heat sensor went off in the kitchen where they were cooking for the homeless. Part of a very busy day at Saint Francis Parish: 9am Mass and confessions,11am Confirmations + photos, 1pm baptism preparation in the hall, 2pm wedding, 3:15 confessions followed by 4pm Mass. Homeless ministry cooking and preparing all day before heading out after 4pm. AA meeting at 8pm.”
A day in the life at St. Francis! Congratulations Dana and Brittany, thank you for being an awesome wedding couple, May God bless your marriage always — and thank you Dracut Fire Local 2586 for keeping us safe!
