A 62-year-old resident of Dracut was seriously injured over the weekend, when he crashed his motorcycle on Route 495 in Haverhill.

The accident took place as the victim rode his 1985 BMW motorcycle on the southbound side of 495 near Exit 52. Suddenly, the motorcycle was struck by a ladder, which had come loose and fallen off the back of a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital, before being Med-Flighted to a Boston hospital trauma unit. His present condition has not been released.

The operator of the pickup, a 38-year-old Haverhill man, remained on scene, according to State Police. He was cited for "operating with an unsecured load."
