Torres drains the game-winning three-pointer for Dracut.

The Dracut High boys basketball team was a dreadful 1-19 a year ago.
The Middies struggled mightily at times this season but fought their way into the Division 3 North Tournament with a 10-10 record.
Suddenly, the team is just one win from a berth in the Sectional Championship game.
Dracut, the No. 12 seed, has knocked off No. 5 Minuteman Voke, 67-51, and No. 4 Newburyport, 57-54, to move into the D3 North semifinals. the Middies will be on the road Wednesday to take on No. 1 seed St. Mary's (22-2). Tap-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Wakefield High.
Dracut's win over Minuteman (14-7) was never really in doubt, as the Middies just had too much firepower for the Mustangs. Specifically, freshman phenom Adrian Torres scorched the nets for 27 points in the rout.
But the upset of an outstanding Newburyport (18-4) had all the thrills and drama that make tournament basketball great.
In the end, it was Torres again, draining a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds to play, that snapped a tie and provided the margin of victory. But the Middies had to survive a desperation three-point try that rimmed out at the buzzer, before they could celebrate.
The game was nip-and-tuck from the opening tap and the teams went into halftime tied, 27-27.
The game remained close throughout the second half before Mitchell Monette and Cameron McCullough came up huge for Dracut in the fourth quarter. The Middies managed to take a 52-48 lead, their biggest edge of the game, and looked to have things under control, before the Clippers rallied to pull even.
Torres finished with 16 points to lead the Middies. Monette had 12 points and dished out nine assists. J.C. Santiago chipped in with seven points.
