The Dracut High School Cheerleading team traveled to the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Senior & Junior High School Nationals in Dallas, TX over the weekend and came away as National Champions for the third time in five years.
This national competition is extremely unique. Unlike any local, regional or state competition, it is a two-day event. The Middies' performance earned them the title of 2019 NCA Advanced Medium National Champions. Dracut was also the third highest score among the whole competition. According to the Middies' coaches, had it not been for a couple of minor mistakes, Dracut would have posted the highest score in any division of the competition.
Dracut High had previously claimed National Championships in 2015 and 2017. Fun fact - in both of the previous years when DHS won the National Championship, the New England Patriots also won the Super Bowl.
