Obituary: Edward R. Ercolani, 88

LOWELL - Edward R. Ercolani, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Joan Marie (Guerin) Ercolani who passed away July of 2014.

He was born in Gloucester on April 30, 1930, a son of the late Grace (Goodhue) Ercolani. Edward was a resident of Lowell since 1965 and served as a Corporal in the Army National Guard, Battery A 211th Field Artillary for many years. 

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an assembler and solderer at Raytheon in S. Lowell for eighteen years. Edward was a handyman and jack of all trades. He enjoyed making puzzles, models and spent countless hours in his garage building and working on his boat. He also enjoyed making model planes and was a member of the Cape Ann Flying Puppets earlier in his life. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Johanna Ercolani, Edward Ercolani and his wife, Wendy, all of Lowell, Patrick Ercolani of Billerica, Lawrence Ercolani and his wife, Pam of Dracut, Judy Cole of Palm Bay, FL, Thomas Ercolani and Timothy Ercolani and his wife, Michelle, all of Lowell; two siblings, SFC Janet Ercolani Crews,
 Army Ret. and Harold Ercolani, both of Gloucester; fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren
 with one great great grandson on the way and one great great grandson; also many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Margaret Rose Vallois, father-in-law of the late Robert McPhale Cole and brother of the late Louise Costa, Everett ant Fred Ercolani.

ARRANGEMENTS - Family and friends are invited to celebrate Edward's life at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Friday, Jan. 18 from 4 to 7pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Holy Family Parish - Ste. Marie Church, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Sts. Lowell. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
