Joan A. Tournas, 66

LEOMINSTER-Joan A. Tournas, 66, raised in Dracut, passed away Tuesday, December 18th, at UMass Memorial Health Alliance in Leominster, MA.

Joan was born on July 24, 1952 a daughter of the late Anna T. (Landry) and Christos L. Tournas. She graduated from Dracut High School and continued her education receiving her BA from Fitchburg State and her Masters Degree from Framingham State. Joan lived in Fitchburg after receiving her degrees, she taught in Leiceister MA schools, but returned to Dracut to become a teacher and Vice Principal of the Robinson Jr. High School in Lowell. She was a devoted teacher and administrator. In her free time during the 70-80's, Joan was very active in Fitchburg' s Local Music Theatre Scene and loved visiting Disney with friends and family.

Joan is survived and will be deeply missed by her brothers: Louis A. Tournas of Westford and James C. Tournas and his wife Rita of Leominster. She also leaves her nieces who she loved as her own: Julie Reyna of Leominster and Elizabeth Tournas of Fitchburg. She will also be missed by her dog Lillibit. 

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 21st, from 9-10AM in the Transfiguartion Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Father John Sarantos Way, Lowell, Ma. Her funeral service will be held in the church at 10AM followed by her burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
