Obituary: Dyanne (Betses) Mitropoulis, 91

Dyanne (Betses) Mitropoulis, 91, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital.  She was the loving wife of the late Peter J. Mitropoulis who died December 23, 2002.  Dyanne had a strong Christian faith, which along with her love of life and family, she shared with all of the lives she touched.  She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Dyanne was born in Lowell, MA on October 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Dimitri and Stavroula (Skolarikos) Betses.  She was educated in Lowell and graduated Lowell High School with highest honors in 1945.  As a young woman she worked for the late local businessman Leo T. Mower as his head bookkeeper.

Dyanne was a lifelong member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, and an active member and past President of their Ladies Philoptochos Society.  She was also a recipient of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Boston’s Diocesan Award.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra  Musgrave, Iris Mitropoulis and Karen  Mitropoulis of Chelmsford, MA.  Two grandchildren, Peter J. Musgrave and his wife Melanie of Londonderry, NH and Amy M. Spera and her husband Zachary of Arlington, MA.

She also leaves sisters- in- law, Josephine Betses of Kennebunkport, ME, Priscilla Betses of Nashua, NH and MaryLou Mitropoulos of Dracut, MA.  Brother-in-law Chris Rodis of Boca Raton, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Dyanne was a sister to the late John, Andrew and George Betses, Florence, Katherine, Helen and Penelope Betses, Mary Lellos and Evelyn Loulakis.   She was also the mother-in-law of the late Donald J. Musgrave, and godmother of the late T. Peter Lellos.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Laurin & Son Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Fr. Sarantos Way, Lowell MA 01854 or to the Manolis Family Foundation 1067 Lakeview Ave. Dracut, MA 01826.
