(Editor's Note: the following information was provided by the Dracut Library.)

If you have ever attended story hour with your children, used one of our museum passes to go to the AquariumMuseum of Science or other area museum; if you came to our mini-golf fundraiser, watched a movie while enjoying free pizza, or your child received a scholarship from the library, then you can thank the Friends of Dracut Library.

The Friends of the Dracut Public Library (FOL) is an independent, nonprofit organization of civic-minded volunteers.  They support the Parker Library by promoting library awareness, providing needed un-budgeted items through fundraising, and participating in literacy programs.  Two of the most used offerings the library has, are our programs and our museum passes.  Neither one of those things is covered in the budget that we receive from the town.  Without the generosity of the Friends, we would not be able to offer them.

The Friends are very excited about the opportunity to win $1,500 from the Jean D'Arc Credit Union, but they need your help. The We Share a Common Thread Foundation donates $1,500 every quarter to a worthy non-profit organization through the "Give a Click" program. Your click can make a difference. Each quarter, three groups are featured.  The group that receives the most clicks during that quarter wins the money.

Please visit the Give a Click site and watch a brief video where our Friends President (and Library Trustee), Gretchen Mayall, talks about the Friendsand what they do.  When you're done, you have the ability to vote for the Friends of Dracut Library. Who knows? After watching Gretchen's video, you might decide to join up to help the Friends yourself!

Voting ends September 30, 2018 at 5:00 pm, so make sure to visit before then.  Only one vote per IP address is allowed.

As always, I am available to meet and talk with you.  This is your library and we want to hear what you think!
