Jul 24, 2018 04:31PM ● By Bill Gilman

Republican State Senate candidate Joe Espinola.

Joe Espinola has seen the best of society and the worst.
He is hoping that as a state senator for the 2nd Essex-Middlesex District, he can add to the former and reduce the latter.
Espinola is a Dracut resident with strong ties the district and is presently the chairman of the Greater Lowell Regional School Committee. Prior to his retirement due to injury, he had a lengthy career as a Lowell Police officer.
Espinola is the lone Republican among the candidates seeking to succeed state Sen. Barbara L'Italien.
Editor Bill Gilman sat down with the candidate recently and discussed a wide range of topics, including the opioid epidemic, immigration and the balance of power on Beacon Hill.
