Kenneth D. Colburn
Kenneth was born in Lowell on September 11, 1924, a son of the late Agnes (Elger) and Percy H. Colburn. Upon high school graduation, Kenneth enlisted in the US Army and served his country proudly during WWII. He was a highly decorated combat platoon Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters, Silver Star of Valor, Bronze Star, WWII victory, Good Conduct, Combat Infantry, and Presidential Unit medals for his bravery.
During his career, he worked for B&M Railroad, JE Fletcher Granite Co, The Watertown Arsenal, and retired from Honeywell Information Systems.
He will be remembered for being an accomplished skier. During his many years participating in the sport, he was an avid racer and continued to enjoy the sport well into his 80's with his entire family. For many years he volunteered as a Little League baseball coach. He also enjoyed college football and world cup soccer.
Kenneth is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Kerry Colburn-Dion and her husband John Dion of Tyngsboro, MA, Jeffrey Colburn of Uxbridge, MA, and Scott Colburn of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Tristan Dion and his wife Ashling, Tenley Dion, Neve, MacKenzie, and Emma Colburn.
He was predeceased by brother, George Verne Colburn and sister, Gladys Tufts.
