Evelyn Louise 'Padma' 'Grammy' 'Evie' Morel
Evelyn was born in Stoneham on August 15, 1938, the eldest of two children of the late Lucien and Evelyn Morel of Wakefield. She was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Nazareth in Wakefield, class of 1956.
Evelyn spent most of her growing up years in Wakefield on Morel Circle which is named after her father who constructed the homes in that area. She lived across the street from Deanna Palmer, one of her best friends for life. They even signed a contract together in 1953 declaring they would remain together until death did they part.
She attended 2 years of Salve Regina College in Newport RI before entering the work force. Evelyn started out selling French perfumes for $5 an hour in Boston's Jordan Marsh then moved to selling Clinique cosmetic products for 10 years, a job she loved and a product she wore for the rest of her life. Evelyn also spent a few wonderful years selling high end specialty items for the owners of William Andrews, which used to be located in the Burlingon Mall, Burlington MA. Eventually, the divine forces brought Evelyn to work at Unicorn Book stores which was located in Lexington MA., where she attended a Reiki seminar and was hooked!
In July, 1990, she traveled to India for 3 months and lived at the Ashram with Guru Mai and lived a simple serving life. Ultimately, Evelyn, who was then known to her Reiki community as Padma, practiced Reiki and became a Reiki master and teacher throughout the last 25+ years. Most recently, Padma saw her clients in both Lexington, 14 Muzzey St., and Lowell, Western Ave Studios.
She enjoyed a good glass of Pinot Grigio, a hot cup of tea, reading British international spy stories, loved her Darshan magazines and Reiki related books and enjoyed watching British cooking shows. Most of all Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and her good friends.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Santoro) Goss and her rock of a husband Richard 'Rick' Goss II of Dracut, her beloved grandson, who she was always so proud of, Richard "Ricky" Goss III, also of Dracut, her sister in law and friend Lois Morel of Palm Harbor, FL., her life long best friend since the 3rd grade, Deanna Palmer and her husband Neil of Saugus, her "bestie" Nancy Lesofsky and her husband Richie of Dracut, and Nancy's daughters Nancy and Melissa who she considered all to be her second family.
She is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and devoted friends and family from many different locations, and her Reiki clients who adored her. Last but not least, Padma is survived by her very unusual cat, Diamond (also known as Gary) who always sat by or near her until the end.
She is predeceased by her eldest child David William Santoro and her brother Edward Arthur Morel.
From my Mom to you; "May your days be filled with many Blessings"
