Haverhill, MA- Alexandra Chandler is proud to announce that former Massachusetts State Representative Pat Walrath has endorsed Chandler’s candidacy to represent Massachusetts’s 3rd Congressional District in Congress. Pat Walrath represented the 3rd Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1985 to 2009, including representing the 3rd Congressional District communities of Bolton, Boxborough, Hudson, Lancaster, Maynard, and Stow, as well as Shirley.
Chandler said, “I am not only deeply grateful for Pat Walrath’s endorsement and active support of our campaign, but her example. In her 24 years in the State House, she was a model legislator who had principles and clearly articulated goals— but who could also represent her entire district and work across divisions to accomplish great things for her constituents, Massachusetts, and even the country. As co-chair of the Committee on Healthcare Financing, she co-sponsored the 2006 bill that gave us near-universal healthcare in Massachusetts and was the template for the Affordable Care Act. With that effort alone, she improved and even saved the lives of countless people. She also spearheaded the $200 million Fort Devens Redevelopment Plan, creating a thriving community of 100 businesses and other organizations employing over 4,000 workers while preserving nearly 2,100 acres of green and recreation space.”
Representative Walrath said, “Alexandra is head and shoulders above the competition in this race. I invite everyone to read her platform and listen to her speak, and I’m confident you will feel the same.”
Chandler is humbled by the praise. “Pat is the model for the sort of Congresswoman I want to be: thinking big and working across divisions with determination to make the everyday lives of people better— from improving their health and lowering their healthcare costs, to revitalizing communities and creating jobs in a thriving economic and environmental ecosystem. I’m proud to follow in her footsteps.”
