Obituary: Dorothea (Daoulas) Husson, 91

Dorothea “Dottie”  (Daoulas) Husson, 91, of Lowell and formerly of Dracut, and  a member of a well known Greater Lowell family, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday morning May 15, 2018 surrounded by members of her loving family. 

She was the beloved wife of the late John Husson who died May 9, 1980.

Born in Dracut, Massachusetts, January 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Vasilios and the late Evangelia (Pappas) Daoulas, she attended Dracut schools and was a graduate of Dracut High School, Class of 1944.

Dottie retired as a bookkeeper for Nat Sergi Enterprises in Lowell after many years. As a younger woman she worked as a bookkeeper for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C.

She was a proud and longtime member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Lowell.  Devoted to her faith, she was an active parishioner who served on the Church Board in the role of treasurer for many years. Baptized in the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church she also attended Bible Study classes there regularly.

A woman of many interests, Dottie loved and wrote poetry throughout her life. She was also a puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. However her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children, their families and especially her treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren who knew her as their devoted "Yia Yia."

Dottie  is survived by her daughter Roseanne (Husson) Galvin and her partner Joseph Frattaroli of Tyngsboro; three sons William G. Husson and his wife Barbara Jean Fehr of Chatham, NY, Michael A. Husson and his wife Mary Todd of Exton, PA and James J. Husson and his wife Laurie Smith of Arlington, MA; six grandchildren Michael “Mick” Galvin, Jr. and his wife Andrea, Jonathan Husson and his wife Catie, Kali Reed and her husband Chris, Elizabeth Husson and her husband Fabien, Jonah Husson and Anna Husson; three great grandchildren Moby, Marty and Henry; two brothers Arthur Daoulas and his wife Elaine of Alexandria, VA and James Daoulas of Pembroke, MA ; a brother–in-law Joseph Kadir of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Dr. Christos Daoulas, Effie Rombakis and Mary Daoulas and the great grandmother of the late Emma and Ava Galvin.
