HAVERHILL, MA — City Councilor Mary Ellen Daly O’Brien announced her support for congressional candidate and State Senator Barbara L’Italien today in the first video in the campaign’s “Moms on a Mission” supporter series. L’Italien is celebrating Mother’s Day by amplifying the stories of moms like her from across the district who are creating change for their families and communities.
In the video, Daly O’Brien shares her passion for empowering women officeholders and explains why she supports L’Italien for Congress.
“As working mothers of four and also elected officials, Barbara and I have had parallel courses. Women bring invaluable lived experience to government, and we need her in D.C.,” said Daly O’Brien. “I’m proud of Barbara’s work on Beacon Hill, proud to call her a friend, and proud she has represented this part of the Merrimack Valley. Nobody works harder than Barbara - she is dedicated to her constituents, and is all about advancing her communities.”
L'Italien is rolling out videos through Mother’s Day, featuring grassroots supporters like Noelia Ferreira of Dracut, who was recently profiled in the Boston Globe for her advocacy on behalf of families of children with complex medical needs to ensure better wages for home care nurses, who are underpaid and unavailable to meet the full needs of every family; and Shane Crabtree of Andover, an artist activist for transgender rights and equality on behalf of her grandchild.
“I know through my own experience fighting for my son, which started my public service career, that nobody gets stuff done like a mom on a mission. I’ve heard from so many moms who’ve heard my story and told me their own, and I wanted to celebrate them give everyone else a chance to hear about their exceptional work too,” said L’Italien. “I’m proud to have the support of Mary Ellen and so many other hard working moms in this district who are making a difference. Happy Mother’s Day to all.”
