MA School Banking Association’s Spring Conference

(Editor's Note: the following information was provided by the Dracut Public Schools.)

On Friday, April 6th, 18 students from Dracut High School showed off their financial knowledge at the Massachusetts School Banking Association’s Spring Conference, held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

The students put their skills to the test in three different types of competitions, Product Development, Marketing and the “Banking Bowl”.  Students who participated in the Product Development and Marketing competitions were tasked with developing a marketing campaign or creating a financial product that focused on financial planning and achieving financial goals. Students who competed in the “Banking Bowl” were challenged with answering general banking and financial questions. Each competition was comprised of two rounds, with 23 schools vying for the top three places.

Both teams that represented Dracut High School in the “Banking Bowl” made it to the second round, and came in at second and fourth place overall.

Dracut High School’s participation in this year’s competition was sponsored by Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. The Credit Union’s Dracut High School Branch offers a financial literacy class to students where they not only learn the ins and outs of the banking industry, but they also work hands-on in the branch, serving members alongside Heather Pintal, Financial Education Manager.

Congratulations to all students who participated.
