ANDOVER, MA – Last week, President Trump blamed the City of Lawrence as a cause of New Hampshire’s opioid epidemic. Dan Koh, candidate for Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional District, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s comments:
“President Trump’s attack on Lawrence is absolutely disgusting. He thinks that blaming immigrant communities will somehow make people forget his failure to lead on this critical issue. President Trump has abandoned families struggling with opioid addiction in every community in our country. He has slashed funds to fight this public health crisis and proposed gutting Medicaid, which provides a critical safety net for those suffering from addiction.
While opioid abuse tears apart families and devastates our neighborhoods, President Trump is all talk and no action. Scapegoating certain communities and pitting families against each other won't solve this crisis. We need real leaders in DC who will step up, get things done, and deliver much-needed relief for families all across the country struggling with this terrible epidemic."
