Obituary: Roland A. Croteau, 90

Roland A. Croteau

LOWELL - Roland A. Croteau, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Marie T. (Maynard) Croteau who passed away in 2004.

He was born in Lowell on December 7, 1927, a son of the late John and Annette (Therrien) Croteau. Roland was a longtime resident of Lowell and received his education through Lowell schools.

Roland proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. 

Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division for many years.

Roland loved sports and was a avid fan of the Boston sports teams. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and coached baseball for the Pawtucketville Youth Organization.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his four children, John Croteau of Hudson, NH, Ann Marie Edwards of Dracut, James Croteau of Hudson, NH and Janice McCartin and her husband, Neil of Chelmsford;  seven grandchildren, Kerry Ann Cavanaugh and her husband, William, Kourtney Edwards, Samantha, Kyle and Jameson Croteau, Christine and Cara McCartin; two great grandchildren, Brett and Brooke Cavanaugh;  also several cousins and many nieces and nephews.  He was the grandfather of the late Craig Edwards and brother of the late Doris Petzold and Lorraine Trudel.

ARRANGEMENTS - At his request, Funeral Services will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Roland's memory to Boston Children’s Hospital at - Arrangements are in the care of the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell.
