Dracut High claims another State Cheerleading championship!
You'd think they might get bored.
But nope, the Dracut High cheerleading team just keeps getting better and just keeps winning.
Last weekend, the Middies added to their trophy collection by dominating the field and winning the MSAA Division 3 State Championship at Whitman-Hanson High School.
It's the team's 10th straight MSAA State title (winter and fall) and its 12th overall.
Dracut put together a near-flawless performance, hitting every key spot. The Middies' score of 205.9 easily outdistanced runner-up Wilmington High (185.4) and third place Foxborough High (167.5).
But not only did Dracut win the Division 3 championship, it posted the highest score of the day among any of the schools in any of the four divisions. D-1 champ Franklin scored a 202.8, D-2 champ Whitman-Hanson scored 200.1 and D-4 champ Fairhaven scored 203.2.
In each of their 10 straight State Championships, the Middies have posted the highest score in any division.
The victory caps a busy and highly successful past four weeks for the Middies, who were MVC D-3 and MVC Grand Champions and D-3 North Regional Champions, along with a victory at the 2018 Astro Blast.
This weekend, Dracut will compete in the New England Spirit Championships at Southern New Hampshire University. The Middies will be going for their 5th New England Title.
The Middies' spectacular winter season comes on the heels of an equally dominant fall season, in which they swept the MVC, North Sectional and State Championships and placed second in their division at the Nationals in Dallas.
