Police Investigating Knife Found At Greater Lowell Tech

Mar 02, 2018 01:46PM ● By Bill Gilman
First it was a threat at Shawsheen Tech last week. That was followed by a lockdown situation at Tewksbury High this week. Both situations resulted in arrests of students.
Now Greater Lowell Tech has found itself the site of a police investigation, after a knife was found in girls' lockerroom.
No direct threats have been connected to the discovery of the knife. However, students are forbidden to bring weapons of any kind onto school property.
Tyngsboro Police are investigating the incident and released the following statement on Thursday:

Deputy Chief Christopher Chronopoulos reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department is investigating after staff found a small kitchen knife inside the girls locker room at the Greater Lowell Technical School.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., a group of students informed a physical education teacher that they had found a small kitchen knife on the floor of a shower stall in the locker room. The teacher located the knife and immediately notified the school resource officer. The locker room was searched, and no other dangerous items were located.

There have been no threats against the school, and at this time police do not believe there is any danger to students or staff. This information is being reported to the public in the interest of transparency.

Chief Howe express praise for the students who came forward immediately and notified a teacher about the knife. The situation is under investigation.
