According to Duggan, the salespeople are soliciting residents and representing they are the town’s new aggregation program.
However, Duggan says the Town’s energy supplier is Public Power. The Town, National Grid (the distributor) and/or Public Power (the supplier) NEVER send people door to door to solicit their program.
Duggan says the salespeople and their companies are operating in an unethical fashion and is encouraging residents to have nothing to do with these companies and to spread the word to their friends and neighbors.
The complete message, as appears on the Garry's Facebook page, reads as follows:
IMPORTANT INFO FOR DRACUT RESIDENTS!!
From Town Manager Jim Duggan: Two energy companies; Palmco Energy and Town Square Energy have been going door to door soliciting residents and representing they are the town’s new aggregation program.
The Town’s energy supplier is Public Power. The Town, National Grid (the distributor) and/or Public Power (the supplier) NEVER send people door to door to solicit their program.
These two companies, Palmco and Town Square Energy, show a lack of ethics in representing that they are both the town’s energy supplier, have not followed proper protocols in contacting the Police Dept. to secure approvals to solicit door to door and are working to have area residents sign third party contracts for their companies to supply energy at a substantially higher rate than the town’s program.
Additional concerns include elderly residents having strangers enter their homes, as well as being solicited in the early evening, when it’s dark outside.
Please share this message on your social media accounts alerting people to this and let elderly friends, neighbors or relatives aware.
