CONCORD, MA — State Representative Cory Atkins (D-Concord) and State Senator Mike Barrett (D-Lexington) have endorsed State Senator Barbara L’Italien (D-Andover) in the race for Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional Seat to replace Congresswoman Niki Tsongas.
“Working with Barbara for the past 15 years in the legislature has been a joy,” said Representative Cory Atkins, who represents Acton, Carlisle, Chelmsford, and Concord and whose former husband Chet Atkins is a previous Congressman from the 3rd Congressional District. “You can always count on her to stand up and fight, and to fight effectively. I know Barbara will be the progressive champion Concord can depend on. I’m giving Barbara my vote, and I recommend my district do the same.”
“I'm proud to support Barbara L'Italien for Congress. Barbara’s priorities are the priorities of this district, from clean energy to expanding the social safety net,” said Senator Mike Barrett, whose district overlaps with the 3rd Congressional in Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, and Sudbury. “She’s been behind my initiatives such as carbon pricing, and I’ve been honored to support her work protecting the Children’s Health Insurance Program, improving life for people with disabilities, and more. The success she’s had in her own district stopping the disastrous Kinder-Morgan natural gas pipeline and protecting state forests makes me confident she will be the environmental leader we need now more than ever.”
“I’m honored to receive these endorsements from two of my colleagues, both esteemed progressive champions,” said Senator Barbara L’Italien. “Cory and Mike both know their districts so well, and so I am encouraged that they have endorsed me as the best candidate to represent greater Concord values. From taking on the Trump administration to pushing for social and economic justice, I’m ready to fight in Congress.”
