Merrimack Valley Braces For A White Christmas

Residents of the Merrimack Valley are waking up to a classic White Christmas, as the first significant snowfall of winter blankets the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning through 1 p.m. Christmas Day.
Moderate to heavy snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, especially during the morning. Tree branches could fall as well as snow adheres to any trees that remain iced and winds pick up out of the west. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are expected.
The detailed forecast is as follows:
Overnight
Snow, mainly after 1am. Low around 27. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Christmas Day
Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain before noon, then a slight chance of snow between noon and 1pm. High near 32. Breezy, with a northeast wind 7 to 12 mph becoming west 16 to 21 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Monday Night
Clear, with a low around 17. West wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.
