The quiet of a Dracut neighborhood was shaken up in the early hours of Dec. 15, as local police and the NEMLEC SWAT team descended on a local residence to execute an arrest warrant.
According to Dracut Police, the operation was executed at 7 a.m. at the residence at 23 Witham St.
The subject of the arrest warrant was encountered outside the home and was taken into custody without incident.
According to Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett, the name of the suspect and the specific charges are not being released, "based on the nature of the criminal complaint involved."
The suspect had initially been scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Dec. 18. However, according to the Office of District Attorney Marian Ryan, that arraignment has been postponed until Jan. 5.
Bartlett expressed his appreciation for the help provided by the NEMLEC team.
“This was a potential dangerous situation that came to a close safely because of the relationship this community has with NEMLEC,” Bartlett said.  “Our Officers, Detectives and the public remained safe due to the professionalism exhibited here (Friday) and I am proud of the good work that was done here."
