A Dracut man was arraigned in Lowell District Court Monday, charged with drunk driving and slamming his truck into the Dracut Public Works building, Saturday afternoon.
Michael Gagnon, 50, is charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
According to Dracut Police, Gagnon was intoxicated when the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck he was driving crashed into the side of the building, located on Hildreth Street. The building sustained heavy damage in the crash, which took place around 4 p.m.
According to a police report, officers responding to the scene found open containers of alcohol in the truck. Gagnon sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. There was no one in the public works building at the time of the accident.
It was not immediately known how long repairs on the building will take or what the cost will be.
