State Rep. Colleen Garry
Today, State Representative Colleen Garry, is reminding Massachusetts residents to shop a local business this coming Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Rep. Garry joined her colleagues in supporting and passing a House Resolution establishing November 25th and 26th as Small Business Weekend.
The purpose of the Resolution is to recognize the positive impacts of entrepreneurs and small business owners on our communities and to encourage people to shop local. “Small Business Weekend is unique to Massachusetts and will give our local merchants a boost during the peak holiday shopping season,” said Rep. Garry.
“Small business contributes to our communities in so many extraordinary ways, and we in turn need to support ‘Main Street’ by encouraging people to shop local,” Rep. Garry added. “For every $100 spent locally, $68 stays in our community compared to only $43 when spent at a chain store. It’s a win-win for everyone, so whether you’re shopping, dining, or looking for a gift, be sure to do it locally.”
