A Dracut man is facing assault charges after allegedly threatening to strike a woman with a piece of steel during a road rage incident in Winchester.
The suspect, 58-year-old Scott Lawrence, is alleged to have cut off another vehicle while driving in the Winchester Center rotary, Tuesday at around 1 p.m.
According to Winchester Police, the victim beeper her horn at Lawrence, causing him to stop his car and exit the vehicle, carrying the piece of steel, estimated to be about 18 inches long.
The woman told Winchester Police that after a verbal exchange, Lawrence threatened to hit her with the piece of metal. Lawrence then got back into his vehicle and drove off. The alleged victim reported the incident to police and Lawrence was pulled over and arrested a short time later.
Lawrence was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Woburn District Court.
