Evelyn Victoria (Sheppard) Makiej
Evelyn was born on October 31st, 1931, in Dracut, Massachusetts, the daughter of Georgianna B. (Lemoine) and Charles. C. Sheppard. She was a graduate of Dracut High School, Class of 1949. She moved to Lowell, Massachusetts in 1960 and lived many years in Belvidere. Evelyn worked as an Automatic Test Operator at Raytheon, Corporation in Lowell for 18 ½ years until retiring in 1993. Evelyn lived in Chelmsford, Massachusetts since 2008.
She was a long-time congregant of Christ Church United in Lowell, and more recently of Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell. Evelyn was very creative and enjoyed crocheting. She used those gifts crocheting preemie hats for newborns at Lowell General Hospital. She enjoyed cross-word puzzles, the Red Sox and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by two sisters: Beryl Sandelli of Dracut and Charlotte DeMarco of Wilmington. In addition, Evelyn is survived and will be deeply missed by her four children: Mr. James Makiej of Brooklyn, NY, Ms. Allyson Makiej of Lowell, Mrs. Janice Strong and husband Richard of Chelmsford, and Mr. Randall Makiej and wife Rebecca Moore of Jersey City, NJ., four grandchildren: Zachary Christian Strong, Jocelyn Victoria Strong, and Lily Gail Strong of Chelmsford, and Willa Lake Makiej of Jersey City, and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is predeceased by her parents and several siblings: Lawrence Sheppard, Willa Singleton, Robert Sheppard, Annie Zielinski, Muriel Keegan, Wallace Sheppard, Louis Sheppard, Henry Sheppard, and Charles C. Sheppard, Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, November 15th, from 4-7PM at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, Ma.. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10am Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 60 Hastings Street, Lowell, MA. Her burial will take place in the New Boston Cemetery, Dracut, Ma.
