LOWELL, Mass. – NBC News and MSNBC National Political Correspondent Steve Kornacki will return to campus on Nov. 17 to look back at the 2016 election and ahead to 2018.

Speaking at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17 in University Crossing’s Moloney Hall, Kornacki will look at “The Trump Election One Year On: Did it Change Everything?”

“President Trump shattered many of the long-standing ‘rules' of politics in 2016, and the question is whether it was a one-time thing, or if the rules have changed forever,” said Kornacki, a Groton native who took two dual-enrollment classes at UMass Lowell as a high school senior.

Kornacki will also look ahead to the forthcoming congressional elections of 2018 and give an early look at the presidential election of 2020.

Last November, Kornacki visited UMass Lowell immediately following the election for a talk titled "Election 2016: What the #&^! Happened?” In May, he spoke at the university’s Commencement and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

The free, public event is sponsored by UMass Lowell’s Center for Public Opinion. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. and seating will be first come, first served. University Crossing is located at 220 Pawtucket St., Lowell. Public parking for the event is available on Fr. Morissette Boulevard and in the Pawtucket Visitor Lot across from University Crossing.
