Georgia (Karamanolis) Kontoulis
She was born in Voutena, Greece, to Panagiotis and Vasiliki (Stathopoulou) Karamanolis. She immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her husband and her three young daughters, whom she supported through her hard work, determination, and intelligence. Because of her perseverance and love, Georgia built a better life for her children and grandchildren. True to her name which is derived from that of the Ancient Greek goddess of the earth, she found peace and beauty in nature and was never happier than when in her garden. Georgia was quick to let out a joyful laugh or sing a soulful song, and her radiant spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by, and will be deeply missed by, her children: Demetra Kontoulis Bouras, and her husband Athanasios, of Larchmont, NY; Maria Kontoulis Recco, and her husband John, of Hoosick, NY; and Pamela Kontoulis Murphy, and her husband James, of Dracut; her grandchildren: Demetrios Bouras, and his wife Ivana; Christina Bouras; Gia Recco; Ianna Recco; George Murphy; Christa Murphy and Vasia Murphy; and her two great-grandsons: Luka Bouras and Liam Bouras. She also leaves behind a brother: Demetrios Karamanolis, of Lowell; and a sister-in-law: Georgia Karamanolis, of Tyngsboro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Theodoros and his wife Panagiota Karamanolis; her sister Olympia Petropoulos and her husband Anastasios, her brother Konstantinos Karamanolis; and a sister-in-law Sophia Karamanolis.
The Kontoulis family would especially like to thank Doctor George Meltsakos for his many years of dedicated and attentive care.
ARRANGEMENTS: were entrusted to the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA 01826. Please make all Contributions in Georgia’s memory to the Hellenic American Academy, 41 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA.
