Middies Stun Gloucester, 4-0, Advance To D-3 North Semis

Dracut High got a pair of goals from senior Joe Donnelly en route to a collected a pair of goals to power the No. 11 Middies to a stunning, 4-0 upset win over No. 3 Gloucester (12-5-2) in the Division 3 North boys soccer quarterfinals on Monday.

Dracut (9-8-3), which had opened the tournament with a 2-1 upset win in overtime against No. 6 Saugus (9-6-2), now advances to the D-3 North semifinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Manning Bowl in Lynn.

The Middies' opponent in the semifinals will be No. 7 Melrose (10-4-6), which knocked off No. 2 Pentucket (12-5-2), 1-0 on PKs, in the quarterfinals.

Against Gloucester, Dracut got single goals from sophomore Brendan Davis and Junior Matt Robichaud. Senior Mateus Ibarguen had a pair of assists. Edwin Bonilla and sophomore James Meli also had strong games for Dracut.,
