A 24-year-old man and 23-year-old woman suffered severe injuries Saturday evening, when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a head-on collision on Route 110, near the Lowell line.
According to Dracut Police, the victims, who were both from Lawrence, were in a 1999 Honda CRV traveling west on 110, when it crossed over the center line and struck a 2017 Volkswagon Jetta, being driven by a 31-year-old woman from Dracut.
The crash took place just after 6 p.m.
The male victim, who was driving the Honda, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Dracut firefightes. Both he and his passenger were transported by MedFlight to trauma centers in Boston. They are listed in stable condition with significant, but not life-threatening, injuries.
The female driver of the Jetta sustained minor injuries. She was treated at Lowell General Hospital and released.
The accident remains under investigation. However, according to Dracut Police, the driver of the Honda was cited for a marked lanes violation.
