Dominic A. Contardo
Dominic was born in Boston, on January 13, 1918 the son of the late Maria (Del Gaudio) and Michelangelo Contardo. Dominic enlisted in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard where he served in two wars, WWII and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
He was employed as a Library Technician at the Hanscom AirForce Base in Bedford, MA for over 35 years.
He was involved with Boy Scout Troop 7 of Lowell. He appreciated the fine arts and loved painting and framing pictures . He also enjoyed doing many home projects and traveling. He had many published “Letters to the Editor” in the Lowell Sun.
Dominic is survived by and will be deeply missed by his 5 children: Denise Snyder and her husband Richard of Lowell, Paul Contardo and his wife Gayle of Ft. McCoy, Florida, Anne Jeffrey of Dracut, Colette Horgan of Pelham, NH, and Lisa Bissonnette and her husband Edward of Bolton. He also leaves his sister, Clara Lynch of So. Bridge, Ma., 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his siblings: Anthony and Joseph Contardo, Otto and Guy Contardi, Mary Mandra, and Nettie Corola and his son -in- law Dennis Dion.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Wednesday, October 18, 4 until 8 pm. His Funeral will take place on Thursday at 10:30 am from the funeral home followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 in St. Mary Magdalen Church Tyngsboro. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
