ENDORSEMENT: Reader Strongly Supports L'Italien

Oct 10, 2017 05:56AM ● By Theresa Gilman

Wow, it’s the end of September where has the year gone? 2018 is just around the corner and with issues like the implementation of recreational marijuana, the millionaires tax and the reduction in the sales tax to name a few, “We The People” need our voices heard.

Today I would like to make the following remarks on who should succeed Nikki Tsongas in the third district. She has been a leader in the fight for healthcare access for all, the services and supports for seniors, health insurance coverage for people with autism and other disabilities and against the Kinder Morgan pipeline. While other candidates are coming out of the woodwork to move back to the district. She has served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011 where she represented six communities including Andover, Haverhill and Methuen and was the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means committee. She has served in the Massachusetts Senate since 2015, and represents the residents of Andover, Lawrence and Tewksbury. She chairs the committees on Elder Affairs and Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, and formerly chaired Municipalities and Regional Government.

She is State Senator Barbara L’Italien and I formally endorse her for the 3rd Congressional District of Massachusetts.

George Ferdinand
Board of Health Member, Tewksbury
