Obituary: Cecile A. Laurent, 85

DRACUT - Cecile A. Laurent, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at her home in Dracut, surrounded by three generations of family.

She was born in Lowell on January 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Hubert) Laurent.  Cecile was a longtime resident of Dracut and a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Parish.

Prior to her retirement, she worked many years at Northwood Nursing Home and Fairhaven Nursing home in Lowell, where she was committed to the care and well-being of the residents. 

Cecile dedicated her life to raising her children and loved nothing more than spending time with them as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings and many nieces and nephews. 

She is survived by her four children, Elaine Leiper and her husband, Geoff, and Joanne Chenell, all of East Lebanon, ME, David Chenell of Dracut and Richard Chenell and his wife, Alison, of Westford;  her five siblings, Elphege "Bill" Laurent, Annette Mercier, Georgette Letendre and her husband, Alfred, Richard Laurent and Laurette McAneney, all of Lowell;  seven grandchildren, Alison MacDonald and her husband, Pat, Jared Smith, Samantha Leiper, Marie Proulx, Bethann Monegro and her husband Kenny, Joseph and Alexa Chenell;  also several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Alfred, Albert "Babe", Roland Laurent, Theresa Bergeron and Claire Cripps.

ARRANGEMENTS - At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2017, at 9 o'clock at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main St., Westford. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Honor and Gifts, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or at, a charity she supported for many years.
