Milton C. Monoxelos
Milton was born in Lowell, MA on April 2, 1932, a son of the late Katherine (Zaramboukis) and Charles Monoxelos. Milton was a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1949, where he was captain of the '49 Dracut High School Football team and a member of the Dracut Athletic Hall of Fame.
He served his country proudly as part of the US Army during the Korean War until being honorably discharged.
Milt had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned and operated many businesses throughout his life, including, Thomas Express in Dracut, Route 495 Warehouse in Tewksbury, Emerald Truck Leasing in Tewksbury and Mobil on the Run, also in Tewksbury.
In 1976, Milt's true passion was realized when he opened Northeast Refrigerated Distributing Company in Tewksbury which is still operating today and is now run by two of his sons and a daughter.
Milt was very generous with his time and charitable efforts serving as past President of the Tewksbury Rotary Club and founder and charter member, as well as past President of the Dracut Pop Warner Association and President and board member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Newburyport.
Milt was an avid sports fan. He loved golf, tennis and biking. In recent years, Milt enjoyed being surrounded by his family and attending many of his grandchildren's sporting events. He worked tirelessly creating beautiful collages with pictures of all of his family and friends which has left them all with precious memories forever.
Milton is survived by his wife, Catherine "Rena" (Kondos) Monoxelos of Pelham, NH; his eight children, Catherine E. Monoxelos of Revere, James Monoxelos and his wife Anne of Westford, Michael Sancartier and his wife Kerrie of Dracut, Armand Sancartier and his wife Maria of Newburyport, Elaine Quinn and her husband Brian of Chelmsford, Thomas Sancartier of Londonderry, NH, Sheri Sutherland and her husband Philip of Tyngsboro and Dean Monoxelos and his wife Rachel of Litchfield, NH. He will also be forever loved and remembered by his 19 grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet "Ricky" Despotopolous of Lancaster, MA and Artemis "Artie" Gianes of Lowell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Anne (Lazarakis) as well as his brother, Nicholas Monoxelos and his sister, Theodora "Dora" Monoxelos.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on SUNDAY September 10, 2017 at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on MONDAY at 10 a.m. with his funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Greek Othordox Church in Lowell. Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery.
