Richard J. Mitropoulos
Richard was born January 21, 1923 in Lowell, Massachusetts a son of the late James and Stella (Bilionis) Mitropoulos.
He received his education in the Lowell school system. A veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, he was a proud member of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Pharmacist’s Mate First Class, earning various medals and ribbons.
Mr. Mitropoulos worked at Raytheon Company in Andover, Ma. for 30 years before retiring in 1987. A true family man he enjoyed working around his home inside and out, taking day trips with his wife and caring for his family. He was a longtime member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Lou (Felthaus) Mitropoulos; two sons, Charles W. Mitropoulos and his wife Cathy, James G. Mitropoulos, a daughter, Joanne M. Masse and her husband Michael; two grandsons, Tyler and Ryan Masse, a brother in law, Chris Rodis; two sisters in law, Dyanne Mitropoulis, and Barbara Beckstoffer and her husband William; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr Mitropoulos was the brother of the late Lewis Charles, Peter, Bessie, Georgia and Carole Rodis whom he just lost this past year.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Mitropoulos’s calling hours on Friday, September 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Fr. John Sarantos Way in Lowell followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell.
