Leda M. (Martin) Shawcross

Leda M. (Martin) Shawcross passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.

Leda was best known for her infectious personality and profound strength. She was the most loving and selfless person, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren. She went through life with incredible grace, even with the challenges she faced.

Leda was a long-time employee of American Foods in Methuen and resident of Lawrence. Her best days were spent at family parties, doing word search puzzles, enjoying her favorite foods, watching the birds outside, and taking special trips to The Christmas Tree Shops with her sister-in-law Ellen.

Leda is the daughter of the late Alida and Henry Martin. She was the loving wife of the late Frank Shawcross Sr. and predeceased by her beloved son Frank Shawcross Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Chuairy and her husband Gabriel as well as her son Paul Shawcross and his wife Maribel. Leda is survived by her four grandchildren: Justine Chuairy, Julianne Frediani and her husband Christopher, Christine Shawcross, and Steven Shawcross. She is also survived by her sister Mary Martin, her brother Robert Martin, and her sister-in-law Ellen Morin. She is predeceased by her sisters Pauline Martin and Doris Harriman, and her brother Philip Martin.

Leda was fiercely loved by her family and friends and will be incredibly missed.

Leda’s family would like to thank the nursing staff, therapists, and chaplains of Mary Immaculate that cared for her in the last parts of her life. Leda grew very fond of them and considered them to be extended family.
