Obituary: Barbara Ann Thompson LaFlam

She was born in Dracut, MA, daughter of the late Clyde Thompson and Eileen (Annis) Thompson. She was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1959. She worked at several electronic companies as a technical typist.
In 1972 she relocated to Columbia, SC with her spouse and children. She later became a licensed cosmetologist and worked as a cosmetology aide at Richland Northeast High School. She was a member of Columbia Baptist Temple where her husband was the Pastor for 36 years. Upon her husband’s retirement, she became a member of Foundation Baptist Church where he currently serves as an Associate Pastor.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ronald W. LaFlam of Columbia, SC, her daughters Kathy (LaFlam) Kendall of Lexington, SC, and Rebecca (LaFlam) Hamby and her husband Paul of Dawsonville, GA, her son, Brian LaFlam and his wife Debra of Leesville, SC., and 7 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mildred Perron of Dracut, MA, and Marion Reid and her husband Harold of Whitefield, NH.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Lykesland Baptist Church, 2712 Trotter Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens will follow the service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 24, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
