This month we introduce you to our Assistant Director, Diane Annunziato.

Diane started work as Assistant Director at The Parker Library on April 1st, 2013.She brings 17 years of experience in both school and public libraries to our mix.

A voracious reader of all genres, Diane admits her preference for thrillers, suspense and mystery. A member of Sisters in Crime/Sisters in Crime New England, her bedside stand currently holds The Fortune Teller by Gwendolyn Womack, Mississippi Blood by Greg Iles, The Force by Don Winslow and Kiss Carlo by Adriana Trigiani. In 2016, Diane was chosen to serve as a Massachusetts Book Awards Judge for the category of Fiction.

Honored for her work on both local and state levels, Diane continues to actively serve as Co-Chair on the Massachusetts Library Association's Intellectual Freedom/Social Responsibilities Committee. This group works to provide unimpeded access to information, freedom of expression and the privacy rights of library users and to establish progressive priorities regarding social issues and diversity in all aspects of librarianship and library service in the Commonwealth.

Feeling fortunate to have found her passion in her work as a public librarian, her favorite duties include Readers Advisory, Programming, PR/Displays, and working on projects with fellow staff and library patrons.

In her off hours, Diane enjoys spending time with family at their summer home in New Hampshire. While re-establishing her yoga practice, she continues to play Himalayan Singing Bowls/Gongs and to pursue her interest in the Vibrational Healing modality.

Recently having stepped down after serving two terms on her Local Cultural Council, Diane continues her support for the arts and for A Place to Bark, a no-kill shelter in Tennessee from which she adopted her (late) beloved Schnoodle, Scooter.

While often at the Reference Desk, you might find Diane anywhere throughout The Parker, as her duties are many and diverse. Wherever you encounter her, she is always glad to see you and to assist with any needs and interests you may have.
