Ahhh.... June.  Summer breezes, vibrant flowers, homegrown vegetables - and summer reading.

Here at the Parker Library, there is plenty planned to keep you busy this summer - no matter how old you are. We have the Children's Summer Reading Rewards program. From June 23rd through August 11th, children ages 2 through grade 5 can earn a sticker and a prize for every five days that they read or listen to stories for at least 15 minutes each day. Stop by the Ice Cream Stand in the Children's Room to register. Our registration and prize table will be open Mondays - Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Thursdays - Fridays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm until August 11th.  To learn about the wide variety of free programming being offered, make sure to visit our online calendar.  Some programs require registration.

Teens entering grades 6 - 12 are invited to put away school books and read what they want! They can log their progress and be entered to win a variety of awesome prizes. To learn about the variety of free programming being offered to this age group throughout the summer, visit our online calendar.

Just because we're adults doesn't mean that we should have to miss out on the fun! The adult theme this summer is "Build a Better World." We're offering a film series around this theme that we hope you will attend. In addition, you can log your progress online and be entered to win gift certificates to local eateries and shops.

As for me, summer is a time for my guilty reads.  I load up on paperback romances, mysteries and thrillers.  Most weekends can find me at the beach, sitting on my chair at the edge of the water, indulging in my guilty pleasure.  Currently on my shelf is Unsub by Meg Gardner, and Word by Word: the Secret Life of Dictionaries by Kory Stamper. I also review eBook original romances for Library Journal.  Currently, I'm reading an advanced reviewer's copy of Wicked Kiss by Rebecca Zanetti.

Are you looking for an escape from the dull and ordinary? The Library has a variety of titles to fill the need.  Why not stop by and see what tickles your fancy?

As always, I am available to meet and talk with you.  This is your library and we want to hear what you think!
