Semifinal Champs!

The Dracut High softball team earned a trip to the Division 2 State Final with a heart stopping 4-0 win over Norton in a semifinal showdown Wednesday at Endicott College.
The Middies (21-4) will face Central Mass. champ Grafton in the championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Worcester State College.
"That was one of the best softball games I've ever seen" - said Dracut Assistant Coach April Eringis.

It would be hard to disagree with Assistant Coach Eringis.  Both teams remained scoreless for 12 innings before Dracut erupted four runs in the top of the 13th.
Sophomore pitcher Ryley White finished the game strong, retiring the side in order in the bottom of the 13th. White scattered seven hits and struck out 11 and didn't walk a batter.
White also got the rally started in the 13th inning with a base hit . A misplayed bunt put runners on second and third with no one out.
Lauren Byam followed an RBI single to break the tie and junior Kyla Tyler blasted a two-run double to make it 3-0.
Nicole Turgeon capped the scoring, driving in the fourth run with an infield single .
The loss spoiled a spectacular effort by Norton pitcher Kelly Nelson, who threw seven perfect innings before Dracut got its first base runner in the eighth inning. For the game, Nelson was immense, striking out a whopping 28 batters over 13 innings.
