Theodore "Ted" Karabatsos
Born in Lowell, he was the son of Elias and Kanella (Haritos) Karabatsos. He attended Lowell schools and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering, As an "Acre" boy and lifelong resident of the city, he took great pride in his serving his country in Italy during World War II as a T/Sargeant (Platoon Sargeant) in the 2nd Battalion/351 Regiment/88th "Blue Devils" Division.
After the service, Ted held several engineering positions until he went to Geartronics Corporation of Billerica, where, after 47 years, he retired in 1997, holding the position of Chief Engineer/Plant Manager.
Although he enjoyed his vacation spots in Maine, New Hampshire, Florida and the Caribbean, his greatest passion was his family who survive him. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Lewis and his wife Susan (Callery) of Lowell, MA and Angelo and his wife Mary (Barrows) of Newburyport, MA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren whom he adored and doted over: Todd and his wife Maureen (Jakiela), Evan and his fiancée Brittany Groebe, Alexandra and Hannah Karabatsos.Ted's only brother, Antonios, predeceased him and he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Panagiota Karabatsos of Lowell, hs nephews Chris of Lowell and John of Grayslake, IL as well as his niece Cynthia Sabatalo of Milbury, MA.
Donations may be made in Ted's name to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to DRACUT FUNERAL HOME.
