Obituary: Martha (Kalantzakos) (Hartford) Lawrence, 91

Born in Lowell on November 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Nikitas and Ourania (Mitsakos) Kalantzakos. Martha was raised in Lowell, and educated in the Lowell School System. For 38 years, she spent her career as a Nurse at E.N. Rogers Veteran's Hospital in Bedford, MA. Martha was also a licensed Hairdresser with Newton's Lowell Academy for many years. She was a stylist at the "Talk of the Town" beauty shop in Lowell, as well as many private residences. One of her most notable clients was Jack Keuroac in his later years.
During WWII, she volunteered at Ft. Devens USO. Martha was the recipient of many awards and certifications by the VA Hospital for exemplary performance and duty above and beyond the call. She was also a proud member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Above all, her most cherished time was spent surrounded by her family, particularly her children and grandchildren.
Martha is survived and will be deeply missed by her loving daughter, Katherine Davis and her husband William of Chelmsford, MA; four grandchildren, Pamela O'Meara and her former husband Paul, Sandra Verrier and her husband Al, Kristina Sussman and her husband Andy, and William Davis II and his wife Kristine; eight great grandchildren, and five siblings, Sophie Antanakos and Stella Hantzes, of Chelmsford, Effie and Christos Routsis of Lowell, Nicholas and Helen Kalantzakos of Portsmouth, NH; and Michael Kalantzakos of Chelmsford, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her son Grover Michael Hartford and his wife Nina of Clearwater, FL.
She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, James Antanakos and Theodore Hantzes.
Martha's family extends a special thank you to the Town & Country Healthcare Center, and its entire caring and compassionate staff.
ARRANGEMENTS: Close family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. on THURSDAY, June 8th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on FRIDAY, June 9th at 9 a.m. with her funeral service directly following at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell.
