DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department has charged the man who allegedly robbed TD Bank Wednesday.
Michael Dexter, 55, of Lowell, is charged with unarmed robbery.
On May 24, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Dracut Police responded to TD Bank, 1255 Bridge St., on a report of a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect was described as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black mask.
Through an investigation, the Tewksbury Police Department, working with Dracut Detectives, learned that the suspect, who they identified as Dexter, was staying at the Motel 6 in Tewksbury.
Around 11 a.m. Thursday, Tewksbury Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle on 495. Upon approaching the vehicle, police identified Dexter, as a passenger and placed him under arrest. Dexter was later released to Dracut Police.
Dexter was booked at the Dracut Police Department and was held pending his arraignment at Lowell District Court.
“The cooperative effort between the Dracut and Tewksbury Police Departments on this case was just superb,” Chief Bartlett said. “Tewksbury Police Officer Robert Bjorkgren and his colleagues were able to quickly identify, locate and arrest this suspect. Thank you to Tewksbury Police for their assistance.”
