Tewksbury Girls Claim 2nd Straight MVC Track Title; Dracut's Schwartz A Double-Winner

The Tewksbury High girls track team added another piece of hardware to its trophy case over the weekend when they rolled to the MVC championship at Cawley Stadium.
Tewksbury racked up 115 points, easily outdistancing Andover (83) and Central Catholic (74). Dracut placed seventh with 37 points.
Junior Holly O'Leary won a thrilling two-mile at the wire in a time of 11:37.26. Freshman teammate Meghan Ostertag was third in 11:43.51.
Senior Lauren Polimeno had a huge meet, winning the 400 hurdles in 1:03.68. She also placed second in the high jump with a best leap of 5-1.
Junior Rachel Sessa had her usual exceptional meet, winning the mile in 5:06.13. She also nosed out her big sister Emily Sessa to win the 800 in 2:16.08. Emily was second in 2:18.56. Junior Tatum Pecci won the 200 meters in 25.73.
Tewksbury won the 4x800 with the team of Rachel Sessa, Sara Catanzano, McKenzie Clark and Holly O'Leary in a time of 9:55. The 4x100 team placed second in 4:02.
Dracut High dominated the throwing events, sweeping the discus, shot put and javelin. Leading the way for Middies was senior Mikayla Schwartz, who cruised to victories in both the shot put and the discus. Schwartz dominated the shot put with a winning throw of 41-9.25. She claimed the discus title with a winning throw of 116-7.
Tewksbury senior Mike Monahan placed second in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.00. Monahan also placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 129-00.
Junior Masyn Lorick placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6-0 feet. Junior Steve Wilson was fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 12-6.
For Dracut, senior Tyler Burgoyne placed second in the shot put with a best throw of 48-6.
Sophomore Jovan Aigbekaen placed sixth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.34.
