Ross Elliott is wanted for murder.
(Note from the Editor: The following information was released by DA Marian Ryan.)
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor are actively searching for Ross Elliott, 51, of Lowell, in connection with a homicide that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning on Stevens Street in Lowell.
Elliott is believed to be armed and dangerous. The public should not attempt to approach him and should dial 911 or contact Lowell Police at (978) 937-3200 or Massachusetts State Police at (781) 897-6600 immediately with any information.
Early this morning police responded to the Stevens Street residence for a report that a female had been shot. The victim, a woman in her 40s, was treated on scene and transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect approached the victim in a common area of the building where the victim was residing. The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, fatally shooting her.
The suspect and the victim were known to each other and had previously been in a domestic relationship.
Immediately following the incident the suspect allegedly fled the scene. Lowell Police subsequently identified a Gorham Street residence believed to be connected to the suspect. The location has been secured by police.
This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Lowell Police and the Massachusetts State Police.
