There are just two contested races on the May 1 Dracut Municipal Election ballot, but those races will help to shape the community for the next three years.

Candidates for seats on the School Committee and Board of Selectmen will meet face-to-face Wednesday, April 26, in a Candidates Night at Harmony Hall.

The event, sponsored by the Lowell Sun, will begin at 7 p.m. and will be moderated by Sun Enterprise Editor Christopher Scott.

The first 40-minute portion of the program will be dedicated to the School Committee race, with incumbent Matthew Sheehan and challenger Sabrina Heisey.

The second portion will feature the race for two seats on the Board of Selectmen. According to the Sun, incumbent Alison Hughes and challenger John Joyce have committed to participate. Incumbent Tami Dristiliaris will be unable to attend due to a previous commitment.

According to an event announcement, the format will include questions from the moderator, a chance for candidates to question each other and closing statements.

The event will be broadcast live on DATV Ch. 8.
