Boston, MA: The Lawrence state delegation is to host an open house next month at the Lawrence district office to welcome constituents – including residents of Tewksbury and Dracut – and advertise the office’s services in an informal, celebratory atmosphere.
The event is happening from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Friday, May 12 at Lawrence City Hall, Room 203, 200 Common Street. The legislators will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served.
"I want to welcome our State Delegation, including our new State Representative Juana Matias to City Hall,” said Mayor Daniel Rivera. “Having an internal delegation office not only makes interacting with your State Senator and Representatives easier, it also allows for better collaboration on the government side. I look forward to working together as we make Lawrence better.”
The space, located on the second floor of Lawrence City Hall, houses offices for State Senator Barbara L’Italien (D-Andover) and State Representatives Juana Matias (D-Lawrence), Diana DiZoglio (D-Methuen), and Frank Moran (D-Lawrence). Open to the public during regular City Hall hours (9 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday), the office provides a consistent in-district presence from the legislators, where constituents can go in person to seek assistance, raise concerns, ask questions, and navigate government and community resources.
“We want to do this ‘re-opening’ of the Lawrence office to show our constituents that we are here, we are listening, and we want to help,” said Senator Barbara L’Italien. “We opened this office over a year ago, and considering the current climate and the new legislative session, there’s no better time for a reminder that Lawrence, and the other communities in my district [including Tewksbury and Dracut – ed.], have this great resource. I’m hoping this event welcomes constituents we haven’t met or worked with before. I’m looking forward to seeing new faces.”
“The district office at City Hall provides us with a unique opportunity as elected officials to engage with our constituents by increasing our accessibility,” said Representative Juana Matias. “I am grateful for this invaluable resource and I look forward to meeting with our constituents at the re-opening celebration at City Hall and learning how we can be of further service to our residents.”
“This office is so important, because, as the Lawrence delegation to the Massachusetts legislature, it’s our constant presence for our constituents right in their back yards,” said Representative Frank Moran. “No need to travel all the way to Boston from greater Lawrence if you need help from the state; with this district office, we’re just around the corner and central at Lawrence City Hall. And we’re always happy to help. The door is always open.”
“This office is a wonderful asset to the people of the City of Lawrence,” said Representative Diana DiZoglio. “I encourage residents who would like to meet with me at City Hall to discuss issues of concerns to call my State House office at 617-722-2060 any time to schedule an appointment."
