Juanita (Harris) Hondras
Born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on September 6, 1919, Juanita was the daughter of the late Lillian and Dewey Harris. She was a longtime resident of Dracut and a communicant of the Centerville Methodist Church in Lowell.
Prior to her retirement, for over 50 years Juanita was the owner and operator of Juanita’s Beauty Salon of Lowell. She was also the President of the Lowell Cosmetologist Association, 1969-1971.
Juanita also enjoyed doing volunteer work in the gift shop at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
Juanita also loved her winters in Clearwater, Florida visiting family and friends.
Her true passion was her family; spending quality time with her family were the greatest moments for her. She devoted her entire life to tending to the needs of her family.
Juanita was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a caring and nurturing way that touched the lives of all that knew her; she will be surely missed.
Juanita is survived by her children: John Honras and his wife Linda of Amesbury, Ma; two daughters, Anastasia Baranowski and her husband John Of Tyngsboro, Ma; Phyllis Decourcy and her husband John of Chelmsford, Ma. Her grandchildren; Christopher and Carolyn Newell of Manhattan Beach Ca, Sean and Andrea Newell of Dracut, Ma, Jennifer Plante and her husband Daniel of Dracut, Ma, Heather Hondras of Merrimac Ma, two great-grandchildren, Alexa Paige Newell, Mace Charles Plante Predeceased by her brothers Carl and Gene, and sisters: Emma and Beatrice.
Juanita’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the care, comfort and respect that she received from the staff at D’Youville Senior Care Center.
Relatives and friends will be received at the M.R. Laurin Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday, April 12th from 9:00am to 10:00am. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home at 10:00am. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Centerville Methodist Church in Lowell, 800 Bridge St. Lowell, Ma. 01850. Funeral arrangements under the direction of directors Louis M. Fazio Iii, M. Richard Laurin, and Scott Laurin.
